A good sweater is an investment — and the right care routine is what determines whether it lasts one season or ten. Here's how to keep your knitwear looking new.
Hand Wash When Possible
Machine washing, even on gentle cycles, can cause pilling and stretching over time. A cold hand wash with a mild detergent is gentler on knit fibers.
Never Hang to Dry
Wet knitwear is heavy and will stretch out of shape if hung. Always lay sweaters and cardigans flat on a towel to dry.
Fold, Don't Hang, for Storage
Hanging knitwear long-term causes shoulder bumps and stretched necklines. Fold your sweaters and cardigans and store them in a drawer instead.
Deal With Pilling Properly
A fabric shaver or pilling comb removes surface pills without damaging the knit — much gentler than pulling them off by hand, which can create small holes.
Give It a Rest Between Wears
Knitwear needs time to recover its shape between wears. Rotating pieces rather than wearing the same sweater two days in a row extends its lifespan significantly.
Store With Cedar, Not Mothballs
Cedar blocks deter moths without the harsh smell of traditional mothballs, and won't leave residue on delicate fibers.
Give your pieces from our Knitwear collection the care they deserve.
